The majority of bets in December were placed at the state’s coastal gambling establishments, totaling $37.5 million.
Properties in the central portion of Mississippi brought in $10.7 million in bets, while casinos in the north recorded $8.7 million.
American football emerged as the most popular betting option in the state, with a handle of $24.9 million. Basketball closely followed with $15.5 million, while parlay bets totaled $10.4 million. Other wagers added another $6.1 million.
After subtracting player winnings, the month’s income was $3.2 million, down 59.0% from 2020 and 66.3% from November.
The coastal region was the largest contributor to the total income, generating $2.2 million. The north followed with $553,536, while the central region brought in $496,568.
