AstroPay Supports Ukrainian Athletes at 2022 Maccabiah Games

AstroPay is demonstrating its commitment to aiding Ukrainian competitors at the 2022 Maccabiah Games. This global athletic competition, comparable to the Olympics but exclusively for Jewish athletes and Israeli nationals, anticipates the involvement of approximately 10,000 individuals representing 80 nations. Within this impressive contingent, a group of 36 determined athletes will proudly represent Ukraine, originating from cities deeply affected by the ongoing conflict, including Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Mariupol.

These athletes, participating in disciplines such as fencing, swimming, and chess, will carry the aspirations of their homeland. AstroPay’s CEO, Mikael Lijtenstein, conveyed profound pride in assisting the Ukrainian team, recognizing the arduous conditions they confront. He underscored the historical importance of the Maccabiah Games and extended his best wishes for the team’s triumph, expressing confidence that they will bring honor to their nation.

The Games, hosted quadrennially in Israel, will occur in Tel Aviv this year, signifying a momentous occasion with the unprecedented presence of a sitting US president.

US Commander-in-Chief Joe Biden unexpectedly showed up at the kickoff of the World University Games, giving an inspiring address to the sizable 1,400-member American contingent. To illustrate the magnitude, this group surpasses the US team’s size at the previous year’s Tokyo Olympics! The Games will continue until the 25th of July.

On a separate note, Ukraine and Lithuania are solidifying their relationship, as the gaming regulatory bodies of both nations have inked a memorandum of understanding.
