Allwyn Reports 23% Revenue Surge in Q2, Driven by Organic Growth and Strategic Acquisitions

Global lottery giant, Allwyn, has announced a significant 23% surge in gross gaming revenue (GGR) for the second quarter of 2022, hitting €901.7 million ($895.5 million). This upswing was fueled by a blend of inherent expansion and the resumption of more typical operational conditions after the removal of COVID-19 limitations in certain areas.

The firm witnessed notably robust results in its digital platforms, with online transactions in the Czech Republic now representing 44% of overall GGR, a rise from 38% during the corresponding timeframe last year.

Allwyn remains committed to implementing its expansion plan, both internally and through strategic purchases. The corporation recently finalized an agreement to secure a 36.75% ownership in Kaizen Gaming, a prominent online gaming and sports wagering provider in Greece and other territories. Additionally, Allwyn is gearing up to assume the role of operator for the UK National Lottery in 2024.

Robert Chvatal, Chief Executive Officer of Allwyn, conveyed his contentment with the company’s achievements, remarking, “It brings me great pleasure to share that Allwyn has once again achieved a solid set of financial outcomes in Q2 2022, and maintains positive momentum towards crucial strategic objectives within our organic and inorganic growth blueprint.”

Rapidly expanding, Betano, an online sports betting and iGaming enterprise developed by the team behind the thriving Stoiximan brand, employs its own exclusive gaming software.

The company, operating under the Betano name, is present in seven regions. They hold a particularly dominant position in Romania and Portugal, while experiencing swift expansion within the Brazilian market. The achievements of this team with Stoiximan have been remarkable, and the potential of Betano is exhilarating.

Subject to regulatory consent, the acquisition is projected to conclude in the final quarter of this year.

“The overall financial performance and strategic advancements of Allwyn in this quarter are very satisfying,” Chvatal added, “and I am optimistic and enthusiastic about the outlook for the upcoming quarters and what appears to be a very promising future.”

For the half-year period ending June 30, 2022, Allwyn declared €1.77 billion in gross gaming revenue, a 41% surge compared to the corresponding period last year. Net gaming revenue witnessed a 50% rise to €1.08 billion, while adjusted EBITDA climbed 45% to €543.8 million.

In a separate development, Camelot, the former UK National Lottery license holder, announced in June that despite a £283 million ($347 million) decline in lottery sales during the 2021/22 fiscal year, the sum generated for charitable endeavors still attained its second-highest point ever.
